McMaster Housing Off Campus

Is your son or daughter moving to Hamilton and living off campus this fall? If so, we have some important information for you. As students are starting school at a younger age you may be asked to co-sign the lease as a Guarantor – do not be surprised if you are asked to do this, but be sure to read your obligations upon doing so as quite often you are signing a group lease. The Off Campus Resource Centre is located in the basement of the McMaster University Student Centre and is open all year long to help with any issues that may come up regarding your son or daughter’s tenancy.

Libraries

McMaster University Libraries offer more information than your son/daughter have ever encountered in one space and are comprised of four libraries: Mills Library (Humanities and Social Sciences), Innis Library (Business), Thode Library (Science and Engineering) and the Health Sciences Library. We offer over 2 million print volumes, thousands of online resources which may be accessed from home with a MAC ID, and specialized material such as music, maps and data. It is not unusual for first year students to be overwhelmed by the high expectations from professors or the amount of information available to them.

Safety on Campus

Attending a new school is an exciting and sometimes ‘nerve-wracking’ experience for both students and parents. Whether moving away from home or commuting to and from, the student experience at McMaster University will prepare the individual for the great adventures of life that lie ahead.

McMaster Security Services provides many services and encourages the development of individuals within the University. We take great pride in making McMaster “a safe place to work, live and learn”. Our officers, who are all sworn Special Constables, patrol the campus by car, bike and foot 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our phones are always answered by a live person who can provide all types of assistance.

Sgt Cathy O’Donnell,
